Overview of Lumbini Medical College (LMC) Palpa
Lumbini Medical College (LMC) is located in the district of Palpa, a hilly district about 3OO kms west of Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal.
Situated at an altitude of 1350 meters, Palpa offers beautiful view of the Himalayas and offers recreational activities like hiking, and paragliding.
The weather is pleasant throughout the year with an average annual temperature of 20.6 degrees celsius. The average annual rainfall is 4 mm.
LMC was established keeping in mind the vision to develop Palpa as an excellent center for education, health and tourism. Setting up a medical college in a hilly district was not an easy task mainly due to geographical constraints, but now Lumbini Medical College is in operation for more than thirteen years.
Initially the college was registered as a private limited company with the Registrar of company on 2062/08/26 (11 December 2005) and converted to public limited company on 2071/01/03 (16 April 2014).
The college also took the letter of permission in principle for operation of the 300 bedded hospital from Ministry of Health and Population vide letter dated 2063/09/19 (03 January 2007),then in 2008 Lumbini Medical College laid down its academic foundation by starting certificate level nursing program (PCL nursing) and then after a year in 2009, MBBS program was initiated and continuing its journey, year 2015 saw addition of post graduation course in affiliation with Kathmandu University .
The college through its teaching hospital is fully committed to provide quality health care services to the rural people of Palpa and surrounding districts. It currently caters more than a million populations residing in Palpa, Gulmi, Arghakhanchi, Syangja and parts of Rupandehi, Kapilvastu and Nawalparasi districts.
Several batches of medical and nursing students have completed their education and are now working in reputed national and international institutions. This college has contributed in producing quality human resource in health sector and will continue to do so in the future. We take pride in teaching our students compassion, empathy and an attitude to serve rural population.
