Overview of odessa national medical university (ONMU) Ukraine
A significant event took place in the life of Odesa, which left a noticeable mark in the history of medical education in Ukraine and for many years determined its prospects - the medical faculty of Novorossiysk University was opened.
The faculty had brilliant prospects, because it employed outstanding, world-renowned scientists. Prior to the opening of the faculty, the construction of the main buildings and clinics was completed, which were built according to the latest construction and architectural art. Admittedly, this faculty was the most prestigious and best-equipped medical school in Russia at the time.
However, this successful start was suspended by Russia's war with Japan, the revolutionary events of 1905-1907, the First World War of 1914-1918, the October Revolution of 1917, and the Civil War. Time had to pass before, after the destruction of the old system of higher education on a new basis, its slow rise began. However, the positive that was laid in pre-revolutionary times, soon began to bear fruit.
Even in pre-revolutionary times, the world-famous school of pathologists was born, the founder of which was the first dean of the Medical Faculty VV Pidvysotsky. His closest assistants and students were OO Bogomolets and DK Zabolotny, who later headed the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. At the same time, a large scientific school of the scientist-pathologist VV Voronin was formed. Future outstanding scientists VP Filatov, LP Dmitrenko, SI Vinokurov, LO Charles, MO Yasinovsky, VK Zhgenti and others were formed on his ideas. We must not forget the cohort of famous morphologists - Professors MK Lysonkov, MS Kondratiev, FA Volynsky, VI Bushkovich and others. Their original works have gained worldwide recognition.
