Overview of Semey State Medical University (SSMU) Semey
Semey Medical University is one of the largest higher medical educational institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which has its own University Hospital, as well as branches in the cities of Pavlodar and Ust-Kamenogorsk.
In 1952, the Cabinet of Ministers of the Soviet Union issued a decree on the opening of the university. Semey Medical University was founded on September 1, 1953 with the opening of the Faculty of Medicine, to which the first 320 students were enrolled. In total, over the years of its existence, university graduates have successfully worked throughout Kazakhstan, the near and far abroad. Semey Medical University has rich historical traditions, huge potential and reputable schools. For 65 years, we have been contributing to the development of medicine and improving the health of the population of Kazakhstan.
